You must confirm that your cell phone is CSD (circuit switched data) compatible. This capability allows for fax and data transference via your plan.

You must determine whether you have the capabilities to connect via Bluetooth or using some sort of data cable that would be attached to both your cell phone and your computer. Though using the Bluetooth may be more convenient, it would drain the battery life out of both the laptop and the phone; therefore you are better off utilizing a data transferring cable. These cables can be found at your mobile desk or mobile planet online stores. The data cable currently available in the market will provide the instructions and software required to set up the connection.

Now the thing you have to do is to configure your computer's dialup networking application by creating a brand new connection. Depending on your operating system, you will simply click on your networking icon which a set up wizard will pop up to give you step by step directions to help you configure your cell phone as a modem. While creating the new dialup networking connection, be sure to choose the cell phone connection you previously setup. This will complete the process. Some troubleshooting might be that your computer may not identify your cell phone as a modem option during the modem software set up process do not think there is anything wrong, simply choose either the hayes or Microsoft Generic option. Caution, if you call your cell phone service provider and tell them that you was the circuit switched data to be enabled because you want to use your cell phone as a modem, they will most likely say they can not enable this feature and try to sell you on one of the internet services that can range from $40 to $90 more per month. So just keeps this in mind will communicating with your cell phone service provider.
